Questions?    Answers.

Can I work on my marriage if my partner won't come in?
Yes, often great progress can be made in a marriage when only one partner comes into treatment. Helping assess where the issues are and changing communication patterns with one person affects the marriage itself.

Often, starting with one partner helps the other partner to have a change of mind and come into treatment him- or herself.

How long do I need to come to therapy?
Naturally, that depends on the complexity of the problem and the needs of the individual and/or couple.  Often, people in the beginning come in more frequently (about once a week) and then they space their visits out more as time and progress continue.

What if I need medication?
Dr. Charnas has longstanding relationships with several physicians and can help you assess and connect with an appropriate physician for medication if it seems to be indicated.

What if my issues are with another person other than my partner?
Dr. Charnas works with non-married partners, parents, children, siblings, and people who are having relationship issues.

What if I need help parenting?
Dr. Charnas has a strong background in child development and can help parents who are struggling with young children and adolescents.
